About
What Local Magazines is, and what it is not
Local Magazines is an index and a national front page for independent local magazines across the United Kingdom. It brings together 129 titles that each cover their own town or region, and puts the newest journalism from all of them in one place.
We are not a publisher. No article here was written by us. Every headline, summary and photograph belongs to the magazine credited on the card, and every link goes to that magazine’s own site. We host no article text of our own, deliberately: the readers, the advertising revenue and the search authority should reach the newsroom that did the work, not the index that points at it.
How magazines are listed
A magazine appears here when the network it belongs to has verified that its own domain is genuinely serving its own site. That check is made against the live domain, not against a database field — a magazine whose site moves or lapses stops being listed on its own, without anyone here editing a list.
Coverage is the United Kingdom only. Magazines elsewhere in the network, including its Polish titles, are published on their own national sites rather than here. A magazine is never listed or delisted as a favour, and there is no paid placement in the directory.
Commercial content
Some stories in the network are paid partnerships or advertisement features. Where a magazine has disclosed that, we show its own disclosure on the card — not a generic label — and the link is marked as sponsored for search engines. If a story is commercial, you will be able to see that before you click it.
When the network is unreachable
If the source of this content is temporarily unavailable, the site serves the last good copy it has and says so at the top of the directory, with the time that copy was taken. It will not present saved content as though it were live.
Who runs it
Local Magazines is operated by Firefly New Media Ltd, and is part of the Magazine.ad network of independent local magazines.
